Responsible gambling

Every slot the lab has measured returns less than it takes over the long run, and the logs show how uneven the short run is. This page uses those logs to say what a session can cost, and where to turn when play stops being play.

A balance curve, an hourglass and a switch: the three things that decide a session.

What our own logs say

bankroll survival in every published run, same bet throughout

Every review measures how long three fixed stakes would have lasted in that run: 50, 100 and 200 bets, playing on at the same bet without stopping. Across 163 tests a 50-bet stake survived to the end once, a 100-bet stake 3 times and a 200-bet stake 9 times. Where they ran out, the median point was spin 297 for 100 bets and spin 807 for 200 bets. These are demo credits and one sample per test, but they are real server results, and they are the honest picture of what "a quick session" costs on a volatile game.

Deepest point = how far below the start the balance went at its worst, in bets. Longest dry run = most consecutive rounds without any win. Both are in each review with the spin numbers.

Rules that hold up in the data

five habits, each one visible in the logs
  1. 01Decide the loss before the first spin. A number in bets, not a feeling. In our runs a 100-bet stake was usually gone within a few hundred spins; if that would hurt, the stake is too big.
  2. 02Set a clock as well as a budget. A full run takes the rig about an hour at full speed. A person plays slower, but the direction of the balance curve is the same: mostly down, with spikes.
  3. 03Never play to win it back. The drawdown tables show balances that recovered in one round and balances that never did. Nothing about the previous spins changes the next one.
  4. 04Try the demo first. The demo on each review runs on the same server math as the real-money build. Everything you can learn about a game, you can learn for free.
  5. 05Do not play when you are not yourself. Tired, upset, drunk, or trying to fix a bad day. Limits set in that state do not hold.
