Slots with the Best Bonuses

Bonus rounds ranked by what the logged purchases actually returned: the rig buys each feature at its listed price, in one session, and the list is sorted by return per price. Natural triggers from the base run are counted next to it.

What "best bonus" means here

a price paid again and again, and what came back

Slotester Lab balance scale weighing a bonus price token against a stack of return tokens under a 1.0x line — Every logged purchase on one pan, what they returned on the other; 1.0x is the line.

A bonus round is the part of a slot everyone remembers and the part hardest to judge from a few sessions. The lab measures it the blunt way: where a game sells its feature, the rig buys it a series of times in a row at the listed price, in the same session and at the same stake as the base run, and logs what each purchase returned. The ranking value is the mean return divided by the price. At 1.00x the buys paid for themselves; below it, they cost money; above it, the feature came out ahead in that run.

Games without a buy button are still in the table, ranked below the ones with a measured buy value. For them the bonus column shows how many natural triggers all logged base runs of the game produced and how many spins one trigger took on average, and their review pages carry the average result of those natural rounds. The base run behind that column is the same one that ranks the slots with the best RTP, so the two lists never disagree about a game's numbers, only about what to sort by.

01One price, a series of purchases. The standard buy option at the standard stake. Super or ante variants are not mixed in.
02Return divided by price. 1.19x means the buys returned 19% more than they cost in that run; 0.83x means 17% less.
03Mean and median both on record. Each review shows how many buys lost, the median, the best and the worst, because one big round can carry the average.
04Natural triggers counted too. Every free-spin round that arrived on its own in the base run is logged with its length and result.

The 1.0x line

where a bought bonus stops being a discount

buys above cost 40 / 113 games whose buys returned more than they cost
mean return per price 0.93x from 0.42x to 1.54x across games
purchases below price 73% share of all logged buys that returned less than they cost

A bought bonus is priced so that, on average and over enough purchases, it returns a little less than it costs: the buy has its own RTP, usually a fraction of a point away from the base game's. A few dozen buys are far fewer than "enough", which is exactly why the values in this table spread so widely around the line. A game at 1.2x in our run is not a discount waiting to be collected; it is a game whose purchases happened to include a large round. A game at 0.8x is not broken; it is a game whose large round did not come in that sample.

What the ranking does tell you is the shape of the feature. Two games can both sit near 1.0x while one returns 0.6x on a typical buy and makes it up with a rare 10x, and the other returns 0.9x almost every time. The review pages show the whole ledger of results, the median, and how many purchases lost money, so you can pick the shape you can afford rather than the average you cannot rely on. The rare 10x kind is also where the record rounds come from: the slots with the highest maximum winnings list is, in large part, a list of features that accumulated multipliers.

Natural bonuses: how often, how big

the free route into the same feature

natural triggers logged 18,807 in 2,820,000 base-game rounds
one trigger every 150 spins · 6.7 bHz lab average; single games range far around it
average natural bonus 77x mean result of a natural round, averaged over games

Buying is the loud way in; waiting is the quiet one. Over a long base run the feature triggers on its own at a rate the game designer set, and the price of a buy is usually calibrated against it: a 100x purchase on a game that triggers naturally about once per 200 spins costs about what those 200 spins would have cost, minus the base-game wins you would have collected on the way. The table shows both routes side by side: the bonus column counts natural triggers and their spacing, the buy column shows what paying for the shortcut returned.

The one thing the bought route cannot buy is variance. A natural trigger inside a base run lands on top of whatever the balance was doing; a purchase replaces two hundred small results with one large one. Players who want to see the feature choose the buy; players who want the session to last choose the wait. Both are in the data, and the catalog of every slot we have tested can be re-sorted by either route with one click.

Questions about bonus rankings

6 questions

What does the bonus value in this ranking measure?

Lab answer

The mean return of the logged bonus purchases divided by the purchase price, pooled over every run of the game on the official demo server. 1.00x means the buys paid for themselves; each review lists every result with the median and the number of losing purchases.

Why are some slots at the bottom with a dash instead of a value?

Lab answer

They have no buy button in the tested build. They stay in the table, ranked after the games with a measured buy value, and their bonus column shows how many natural triggers the base run produced and how many spins one trigger took on average.

Is a game above 1.0x worth buying?

Lab answer

Not on that number alone. A bought feature is priced to return slightly less than it costs over many purchases, so a run above 1.0x usually means one or two large rounds carried the average. Look at the median and the share of losing buys on the review page before deciding.

Do you test the super or ante versions of a buy?

Lab answer

No. The purchases use the standard buy option at the standard stake, so games are compared on the same footing. Where a game offers a more expensive variant, the review says so and describes what it changes.

How is the natural bonus frequency measured?

Lab answer

From the logged base runs of each game, every run counted: each free-spin round that triggered without buying is logged with its spin count and result. The spacing shown as "1/N" is the number of logged rounds divided by the number of triggers.

Will the order change?

Lab answer

Yes, automatically, whenever a new game is tested or an existing one is re-run. The value is a measurement of one run, and a second run of the same game can land on the other side of the 1.0x line.
