The 2018 Great Rhino, not its Megaways follow-up, uses a 5x3 grid and 20 fixed paylines counted from the first reel. On a USD 2.00 spin, the stake used throughout the test, the rhino heads the paytable with USD 40 for five and is the only animal that also pays for two, USD 0.20, ahead of the cheetah, crocodile, hyena and flamingo, while A, K, Q and J pay USD 0.50 to USD 2.50. The blue coin is the Wild, present on every reel, standing in for everything except the BONUS tree and paying USD 50 for five of its own.

Full rhino stacks on two or more reels start the Super Respin. Ordinary line wins of that spin are paid first, then everything except the full stacks clears and only rhinos spin, three respins to begin with; a respin that lands any new rhino keeps it and adds one more respin, however many rhinos arrived together. When the respins run out, all lines made of rhinos are paid at once, and 14 rhinos on the board swap those lines for the Major jackpot of 375x the bet, while a 15th ends the feature on the spot with the 500x Grand, the USD 750 and USD 1,000 shown on the bars at USD 2.00.

Three BONUS trees, which turn up on reels 2 to 4 alone, pay twice the total bet and start 10 free spins on their own reel set. During them every rhino becomes a Wild and pays from the Wild's row of the paytable, BONUS trees no longer appear and the Super Respin is switched off, so each bonus runs exactly ten spins. When one spin awards both features, the respins are played before the free spins.

Stakes range between USD 0.20 and USD 240 a spin, and this build neither sells a feature nor offers an ante option. Pragmatic Play rates the game low volatility with a theoretical return of 96.53%, the same profile the demo server reported during the test.

Where the empty cells fell

Super Respins started 42 times in 10,000 rounds, one per 238.1, and those rounds, trigger spins included, returned USD 4,580.90, 25.26% of everything the ordinary series paid. They also produced the seven largest rounds of the run and 16 of the 18 that reached 50x the stake or more, with a 54.53x average and a 41.65x median per round.

No Super Respin board reached the 14 rhinos that turn its lines into the 375x Major: they finished with 9 to 13, sixteen of them on 11 and four on 13. Rounds that ended on 11 averaged 51.58x the stake, those that ended on 13 averaged 167.05x.

Sixty-seven natural free spins bonuses arrived in the same series, once per 149.3 rounds, and paid more evenly, from 6x the stake on round 3258 to 75.25x on round 3721, trigger spins included. Lines through a rhino Wild earned 90.11% of the money paid inside those spins, and the 67 bonuses together brought 14.98% of all payouts.

Rounds 7875 and 8815 finished their Super Respins with 13 rhinos, one gap on reel 3 and one on reel 5, and paid USD 421.40 each, nine of their lines running all five reels and four more stopping at four. Rounds 2117 and 5208 also reached 13, but with both gaps on the middle reel only six lines ran five long and fourteen stopped at two rhinos, so their respins paid USD 242.80. Two or more full rhino stacks start it: the spin's line wins are paid, the stacks stay, and only rhinos spin for three respins, with one respin added each time a respin lands at least one new rhino. In the test 40 of the 42 rounds began from two full stacks and two from three, and they ran 4 to 8 respins before every rhino line was paid together, from 12.5x the stake on round 9508 up to 210.7x on rounds 7875 and 8815.

Did the Major or Grand jackpot ever land in the Great Rhino demo?

No. The Major needs 14 rhinos on the board when the respins end and pays 375x the bet, USD 750 at USD 2.00, while the Grand needs all 15 and pays 500x. Four Super Respin boards in the 10,000-round series stopped on 13 rhinos, the closest any came.
