Remember Gulag's grid has six reels of 3, 3, 4, 4, 5 and 5 symbols in the base game, but barbed wire keeps reels 5 and 6 shut, so an ordinary spin plays 144 ways. A win needs its symbol on at least three adjacent reels starting from reel 1; each way pays its highest combination only. Six Papa portraits are worth 6.00x the bet, six Generals or six men in fedoras 5.00x, the old man in glasses and the bear 4.00x, and the five Cyrillic letters between 2.00x and 3.00x; the Wild covers for every symbol bar the Scatter.
A Scatter that lands frees one locked reel, the first one reel 5 and a second reel 6, which is how the ways counter reaches 720 and 3,600. Three special symbols work on fixed reels in the base game: xWays on reels 1 and 2 reveals one random paying symbol two or three positions tall, the xNudge Wild on reels 3 and 4 nudges until it covers its reel and gains 1 on its multiplier per nudge, and the xSplit Wild on reels 5 and 6 splits every symbol beside it in two. Split xWays symbols double their multiplier, and a split Scatter becomes a Wild filling its whole reel.
Gulag Spins need three Scatters and begin with a setup spin that fixes the number of spins and a multiplier for each of the four top characters, and one of the four is drawn to be active; its wins are multiplied, the other three pay at face value. A top reel above the grid can add +1x or +2x or double that multiplier on any spin, each further Scatter adds a spin, and a third collected Scatter upgrades the round to All Aboard, where all four characters are active. Four Scatters on the trigger begin in All Aboard, five in Double Vodka, where the character multipliers are doubled; in the feature the reels turn to 5-5-4-4-3-3 with all six open, 3,600 ways before xSplit Wilds and xWays symbols, which the rules credit with up to 614,656.
Prices in the Nolimit Bonus menu are 78x the bet for Gulag Spins, 270x for All Aboard, 486x for Double Vodka and 198x for a Lucky Draw, while the Propaganda Bet booster makes every spin cost 1.2x the bet for a Scatter guaranteed on reel 2 and reel 5 always open. Fifty-six natural Gulag Spins rounds came in 10,000 spins at EUR 1 and paid 41.55% of everything the ordinary series returned, at a median of 51.08x the stake and a mean of 72.39x for the whole round, trigger spin included. Round 5326 paid the most, 253.55x, with the old man in glasses lifted from x6 to x10 over ten spins. Across the 55 one-character natural bonuses the active multiplier started at x2 to x7 and its median closing value was x8, while the top reel handed out +1x 244 times, +2x 15 times and a doubling 4 times in all 56.
Bought Gulag Spins, 50 tickets at EUR 78, came back with EUR 4,164.05, 106.77% of the EUR 3,900 spent, while the median ticket returned 0.645x its price. Papa was the active character on tickets 43, 38 and 23, the three best at 9.010x, 6.169x and 4.604x. All Aboard at 270x, Double Vodka at 486x, the 198x Lucky Draw were never bought and Propaganda Bet was never switched on, so none of these numbers covers them.

A third Scatter collected during the round, and none of this test's 105 Gulag Spins rounds that began with one active character, 55 natural and 50 bought, got there; 13 rounds reached two, 31 of the purchases took at least one, and the rest none. The separately recorded bonus video does show the upgrade, on the last spin of a bought round with Papa at x13.

No. At 10,000 rounds and EUR 1 the approximate 95% CI spans 81.33% to 113.78%, comfortably including the declared 96.08%. Round 5326 alone paid 253.55x, and setting it aside leaves 95.03% for the remaining 9,999 rounds; the balance finished 244.45 bets down.
