How it plays

7 rules screens from the game

Opening chests determine part of the free-spin setup before any feature spin is played. A trigger needs three to six Bonus symbols, grants six spins and allows one chest per triggering symbol. Possible chest prizes add one to four spins, one roaming wild, one or two multiplier units, or a minimum of 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000 ways for each feature spin.

Within free spins, every wild joins the roaming group and relocates on each spin; two roaming wilds occupying the same position raise the running multiplier by one. A Bonus symbol on the sixth reel awards one extra spin and another chest selection, whose prize applies from that point. A spin prize in this later chest is added on top of the automatic one-spin award, whereas all opening chest prizes belong to the initial setup.

Reel heights vary across six columns, with seven symbols apiece allowing a maximum of 117,649 ways. A paying way begins on the leftmost reel and follows adjacent matching symbols: two reels suffice for sharks, while other paying symbols require at least three. Wild substitutes are confined to reels two through six and cannot replace Bonus or Mystery symbols; only the highest eligible combination pays for an individual way.

Ordinary play has its own roaming-wild respins: three or more wilds start the sequence, and a newly arriving wild joins the group and adds one respin. Base-game Mystery symbols all reveal the same randomly selected paying symbol on their screen. A separate Random Win feature can convert a randomly selected non-paying base spin into an award of at least 10x the total stake.

The 100x purchase supplies three Bonus symbols, while the 150x alternative supplies four to six; this sample bought only the former at USD 200. Ante uses twenty-five credits against the usual twenty and increases the chance of a natural feature through additional Bonus symbols, with purchases available in regular mode. Declared RTP is 96.40% for regular play, 96.53% for Ante, 96.51% for the three-symbol purchase and 96.52% for the four-to-six-symbol option. The captured rules specify medium volatility, an overall USD 0.20–300 bet range and a regular-play round limit of 10,000x, where remaining feature play ends.

Verdict

Two overlaps raised the multiplier; the next increase paid less

Thirteen was the multiplier, not the number of winning ways, on the twelfth free spin of round 9821. Pufferfish combinations supplied USD 16 before multiplication, kings USD 12 and tens USD 11.20. Two pairs of roaming wilds had met on shared positions, raising the running multiplier from 11x to 13x: the USD 39.20 combined award became USD 509.60. That brought the accumulated payout to USD 1,101.40.

The next spin produced two further collisions and reached 15x, but its underlying symbol awards amounted to USD 6.40. It therefore added USD 96, finishing the thirteen-spin feature and complete round at USD 1,197.40, or 598.7x the ordinary USD 2 stake. The larger multiplier paid less on that later screen because it acted on a smaller award.

Purchase 27 supplied another useful view of the arithmetic: its ninth free spin paid USD 1,168 at only 2x, from USD 584 before multiplication and without a collision on that screen. The fifty USD 200 purchases returned USD 7,298.40 combined, with a mean of 0.72984x the price and a median of 0.2365x, or USD 47.30; forty-one tickets finished below their charge. Kraken's multiplier can grow across a feature, yet the contrast between that USD 1,168 screen at 2x and round 9821's USD 96 at 15x shows how much still depends on the paying symbol combinations.

Measured upsides
  • Wild collisions can raise a multiplier already in progress: round 9821 moved through 11x, 13x and 15x on its final three spins.
  • Chest prizes alter several parts of the setup, including starting spins, roaming wilds and a minimum ways count.
  • Ordinary Mystery symbols can produce a substantial ways award without free spins, as the USD 128 jellyfish result in round 4636 demonstrated.
Measured downsides
  • Forty-one of the fifty purchased rounds settled below the USD 200 ticket price; the median returned USD 47.30.
  • A longer feature did not ensure a larger payout: purchase 40's extension from six to nine spins ended at USD 4.80.
  • The sample contained a gap of 1,151 paid rounds between successive natural features.
What the AI noticed during the run
  • Opening chest prizes gave purchase 46 twelve free spins immediately: six standard spins plus two awards of three. No later spin addition occurred on that USD 328.40 ticket.
  • A six-spin start became nine on purchase 40 after a late Bonus symbol supplied one spin and its chest supplied two. Despite that extension, the complete payout was USD 4.80.
  • Nine Mystery positions in ordinary round 4636 revealed jellyfish together, forming 64 six-reel ways worth USD 128.
  • Natural free spins contributed USD 6,362.30, or 32.91% of the USD 19,330.50 ordinary-series payout; the component total excludes entry awards.
  • The longest internal wait lay between natural entries 1701 and 2853: 1,151 paid rounds without a feature trigger.

Method & data

10000 ordinary paid rounds, including naturally triggered features, at a fixed USD 2.0 bet; 50 bonus buys at 200.0 each (100.0x) on the official Pragmatic Play demo server (jurisdiction 99, RTP profile 96.4%); every request and response logged; test run 2026-09-14. Chest selections followed a fixed first-available unopened-chest policy; no alternative selection strategy was compared. An earlier incomplete statistical attempt was excluded after a round-boundary parsing defect was identified; the published 10,000 rounds and 50 purchases come entirely from a fresh run after the correction.

The test rig recorded every round on the official demo server. Screenshots and video were captured in a separate browser session and are not part of the statistical samples. This release has completed automated data, content and page checks; human editorial review is pending. How we test →

FAQ

6 questions · answered from the log
Why was 15x worth less than 13x in round 9821?
Lab answer

The multiplier applies to the current screen's symbol award. In round 9821, free spin twelve paid USD 39.20 multiplied by 13, giving USD 509.60; the next spin paid USD 6.40 multiplied by 15, giving USD 96. Each screen had two wild collisions, but the later screen began with a much smaller paying combination total.

Do Kraken's opening chests count as retriggers?
Lab answer

Opening chest awards form the starting allocation: purchase 46 received six extra spins through two initial chests, began with twelve and had no later extension. Purchase 40 instead began with six and acquired three later, combining one spin from a Bonus on reel six with two from its chest. Seven of fifty purchased features had an award after feature play began.

Kraken bonus buy: what changes between 100x and 150x?
Lab answer

The two prices buy different entries: 100x supplies three Bonus symbols and three opening chests, while 150x supplies four to six of each. Only the 100x option was sampled, using fifty USD 200 tickets; its USD 47.30 median represented 0.2365x the price, and nine tickets covered their cost. These observations leave the higher-priced option untested.

Does the Kraken build have one RTP for every mode?
Lab answer

The captured build specifies 96.40% for regular play, 96.53% with Ante and 96.51% or 96.52% for the 100x and 150x purchases respectively. Regular play in this test returned USD 19,330.50 from USD 20,000 wagered, measuring 96.65%. An approximate 95% CI of 75.86–117.45% uses normal mean uncertainty; those endpoints do not forecast the outcome of the next session.

Kraken free spins: how frequent were natural entries?
Lab answer

Thirty-four features started during the 10,000 ordinary paid rounds, equivalent to one per 294.12 rounds in the observed sample. Their free-spin awards totalled USD 6,362.30, supplying 32.91% of all ordinary-series payouts after excluding entry awards from the feature numerator. The longest interval within the series contained 1,151 rounds without a trigger.

Can two matching sharks already make a winning way?
Lab answer

Yes, if they occupy the first two neighbouring reels; the shark pays from two reels, whereas the other regular symbols need at least three. With USD 2 staked, a two-reel shark way pays USD 1 before any applicable free-spin multiplier. The six variable-height reels offer up to 117,649 ways rather than a fixed set of paylines.
