Three BONUS scatters at a USD 1.00 stake bring 8 BONUS PICKS; a Cash Inferno upgrade, four extra-spin picks and three skeleton keys set up 19 Inferno Spins, a skeleton key draws 4.00 from the tower and the card reads USD 80.50. Recorded in a separate browser session, outside the statistical samples.
Across the whole run the 32 natural bonuses split into 2 under 20x, 15 between 20x and 50x, 12 between 50x and 100x and 3 at 100x or more, and together they made up 20% of everything the game returned. The wait between two triggers ran from 7 to 2,156 spins. Payout figures here cover the whole bonus round in ordinary stakes, the trigger spin included: its scatter pays and line wins count towards the bonus.
Inferno Spins are not extended once they start: extra spins come only from +SPINS picks opened on the board before the first spin. The 32 natural bonuses therefore had their full length, 10 to 31 spins, fixed at entry, and none of them was counted as a retrigger.

How it plays
13 rules screens from the game
Reels 1 and 6 hold five symbols and reels 2 to 5 four each, which gives 6,400 ways on every spin, paid from the leftmost reel. The pirate flag and the four character portraits pay from two of a kind, the cards from three. At a USD 1.00 stake six flags return USD 5.00 and six portraits USD 2.00 to 2.50, while the A down to 9 pay USD 0.40 to 1.50, and a gold coin Wild, which never appears on reels 1 and 6, replaces every symbol except BONUS, Collect and cash prizes.
Cash prize symbols are doubloons worth USD 0.50 to 2.50 and three skeleton keys. They pay only when the Collect, a skull emblem marked GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE, lands on reel 1 or reel 6 in the same spin, and then every value in view is added up. A green key draws one prize from the Cash Inferno tower, whose prizes range from 1x up to 500x the stake, a blue key up to five prizes, and a red key one prize multiplied by up to x5. On any spin Sloth may add one of five reel modifiers, from Bonus Boost, which puts extra BONUS scatters on reels 2 to 5, to Cave In, which drops new symbols after a losing spin with a Collect in view.
Every gem in view moves the Treasure Trail on by one position. The 1st, 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th gems bank two BONUS PICKS each, the 21st starts the bonus by itself, and the trail goes back to its start after every bonus. Three or four BONUS scatters on reels 2 to 5 give 10 Inferno Spins; four also complete the trail and hand over the picks still missing.
All banked picks are opened on a board of gems before the first Inferno Spin. They add Collect symbols, one to five spins, more green, blue or red keys, or a Golden One Eyed Willie upgrade that lifts the tower through four levels, from a 750x top prize at level 1 to 2,000x at level 4. During the spins every ways symbol becomes a blank, so only Collects and cash prizes count. This build lists 94% RTP and a 10,500x cap on the base bet, takes stakes from USD 0.10 to 20.00 and has no bonus buy.

Verdict
Ten picks from a full trail
Sixteen of the 32 natural bonuses opened with only two BONUS PICKS, because three scatters usually arrived while the trail was short: at the 29 scatter triggers it stood between 1 and 15 gems. Including their trigger spins, those 16 averaged 38.67x the stake per round, with round 1171 at the bottom on 3.0x after ten spins. The 16 that brought four or more picks averaged 73.17x.
The 21st gem, not scatters, started rounds 3420, 5298 and 9974, so all five milestones were behind them and each entered with ten picks. They ran 25, 21 and 31 spins and paid 109.8x, 103.5x and 98.0x, three of the series' top four rounds; round 9241, a scatter bonus with six picks, was the fourth at 105.5x.
A round moved the trail once per 22.73 rounds while it held 0 to 19 gems, but 2,499 rounds were played at 20 gems and the last one came three times, once per 833.0. Six more trails standing at 20 were lost when the test reopened its demo session, which started every trail again from zero. None of the 29 scatter triggers showed four BONUS symbols or found the trail above 15 gems, short of the 17 at which the rules already grant 10 picks, so in this test only the 21st gem produced a ten-pick bonus.
- The three bonuses opened by a full 21-gem trail paid 109.8x, 103.5x and 98.0x
- Collect wins with doubloons and keys returned USD 2,950.50 outside free spins, 32.75% of all series payouts
- At least two BONUS PICKS were waiting in every natural bonus
- Sloth's Pinchers of Peril turned round 3603 into six pirate flags on 18 ways, 90.0x without free spins
- Inside one test lane, 630 rounds passed between the bonuses of rounds 9343 and 9974
- Only 3.0x came from the ten Inferno Spins of round 1171, the lowest of the 32 bonuses
- Four BONUS scatters, the trigger that completes the trail at once, never appeared in 29 scatter bonuses
- Two picks were all that 16 of the 32 natural bonuses had to open

FAQ
7 questions · answered from the log
Once the bonus starts, what can The Goonies Cash Inferno BONUS PICKS give you?
Extra Inferno Spins, more Collect symbols, more green, blue or red skeleton keys, or a Golden One Eyed Willie upgrade of the Cash Inferno tower. The 32 natural bonuses of the 10,000-round test opened 130 picks: extra spins 49 times, a Golden One Eyed Willie upgrade 44, extra blue and extra red keys 11 times each, extra Collects 9 and extra green keys 6. Bonuses with four or more picks averaged 73.17x the stake, those with two 38.67x.
Can the Treasure Trail start the bonus on its own, and how often did it?
Yes, though the 21st gem started just 3 of the 32 natural bonuses in 10,000 rounds, rounds 3420, 5298 and 9974. Below that point a round moved the trail once per 22.73 rounds, while the 2,499 rounds played at 20 gems produced the last one only three times, once per 833.0.
If I close the demo, does the Treasure Trail keep my gems?
No. Over the 10,000 test rounds the demo session was reopened 16 times, and each time the server started the trail again from zero; six of those trails had reached 20 gems, one short of an automatic bonus.
Between two Goonies Cash Inferno bonuses, what was the longest dry spell?
The test ran as four parallel lanes of 2,500 rounds, and inside one lane the longest wait was 630 paid rounds, between the bonuses of rounds 9343 and 9974. Across the series 32 natural bonuses arrived, which works out to 312.5 rounds per trigger on average; that figure is gross turnover at a USD 1.00 stake, not the net cost of a bonus.
Why would 10,000 demo spins pay back 90.09% when the game lists 94% RTP?
One sample of 10,000 rounds at USD 1.00 has a wide spread: the approximate 95% interval for its mean, a normal-approximation range that predicts nothing about the next session, spans 81.08% to 99.1% and contains 94%. Without round 3420, the best bonus at 109.8x, the other 9,999 rounds returned 89.00%.
Does the Collect symbol pay much outside the Inferno Spins?
Yes. Collect wins came in 462 of the 10,000 ordinary rounds and returned USD 2,950.50, 32.75% of everything the series paid, against 47.66% from ways wins. Skeleton keys drawing from the Cash Inferno tower were part of 92 of those Collect rounds and contributed USD 1,114.00.
Is Sloth's Hey You Guys modifier a common sight?
No. Sloth appeared in 65 of the 10,000 test rounds; Cave In came in 19 rounds, Bonus Boost came 4 times and Dynamite Blast 3 times, and a Pinchers of Peril upgrade on reels 1, 3 and 4 produced the top round outside the bonus, six pirate flags on 18 ways for 90.0x.
