Stakes multiplied by this interval measure gross wagering, not the net cost of obtaining a bonus. Purchase returns above include the complete purchased round and are divided by the ticket price.

How it plays
19 rules screens from the gameMarching Legions plays 5x3 with 243 ways: symbols that match on neighbouring reels from the left pay regardless of row, and extra copies on a reel multiply the count. There is no Wild. The legionary is the top symbol and the only one that pays for a pair, FUN 2.00 for two on a FUN 2.00 stake and FUN 5.00 for five; the eagle standard pays FUN 6.00 for five, the laurel wreath 5.00, the gladius 4.00, and the three badge symbols 2.40, 2.00 and 2.00.
A reel filled top to bottom with legionaries becomes a Marching Stack: it sticks, a re-spin follows, and before every re-spin each stack steps one reel to the left, so a stack that lands on reel five walks through four more positions before it leaves. Any further full stack landing during the re-spins falls in with the march, re-spins continue while a stack is on the screen, and a stack that leaves the reels is collected on the shield meter. When no stack is marching and at least two partial stacks have landed, the nudge feature may push them into a full stack and start the march that way.
The meter has five levels and fills at 330 collected stacks, which opens the free spins at the weighted average of the bets used during the collection. Free spins run in waves: the first wave starts with one Marching Stack on the far right reel and lasts until no stack remains, collect symbols on reel five, three of them counting one awarded at the start, unlock the next wave, and each new wave begins with one more stack than the last, five from the fifth wave on. Buying the feature costs 120 times the stake, FUN 240 here, opens the first wave at once and leaves the meter untouched. The rules print 98.12% for ordinary play and 97.13% for the purchase, put the ceiling at 10,000x, and offer a bet ladder that starts at FUN 0.10 and tops out at FUN 1,000.

Verdict
Stacks pay, tickets do notThe 10,000-spin series at FUN 2.00 came back at 93.51% of stake against the printed 98.12%, the approximate 95% band spanning 83.6% to 103.4%, and the balance closed 649 bets down after a low of 886 under the start and a 1,034-bet fall from its peak at round 6144. A quarter of spins paid, 25.65%, and the meter filled three times, at rounds 3170, 6430 and 9248, for free spins worth FUN 6, 81 and 105, one percent of the money; without round 9248 the other 9,999 spins returned 92.97%.
Everything in the base rests on the marching stack. A full stack landed or was nudged into place in 666 rounds, one per 15 spins, and those rounds paid 67.0% of everything the series returned, though their median was 4 bets and 164 of them paid nothing. Where the stack lands matters less than how many follow it: a lone stack averaged 6.4 bets, two stacks on the screen 21.7 and three or more 95.9, and the three biggest rounds of the run, 6962 at 175.8 bets, 6768 at 151.5 and 4210 at 108.3, all had three stacks marching at once. Round 6962 paid FUN 270 on the triggering spin alone, three stacks on reels two, three and five forming 135 bets of legionary ways before the first re-spin.
The purchase was the weak point. Fifty tickets at FUN 240 returned 0.577x their price, 44 finished below it, four paid nothing and the median ticket returned 0.25x, which against the printed 97.13% is a return of 57.7%; the demo balance ran dry at ticket 41 and the series continued in a fresh session. The waves explain it: 16 tickets that ended after the first wave averaged 0.092x, 22 that reached a second wave 0.294x, ten that reached a third 1.218x, and the two that reached a fourth 4.358x.
Ticket 32 was one of those two: 33 spins across four waves, and on the 24th spin four stacks marching together paid FUN 810, 405 bets, followed by FUN 324 on the next, for FUN 1,408 in all. Ticket 43 made FUN 1,338 in three waves and ticket 8 FUN 684 in four. Nothing else passed FUN 480, and taking ticket 32 out leaves the remaining 49 at 0.469x.
- Marching stacks arrived once per 15 spins and produced 67% of all payouts
- Three stacks on the screen averaged 95.9 bets, and round 6962 reached 175.8 bets
- Four-wave tickets averaged 4.358x their price, ticket 32 alone paid FUN 1,408
- The meter filled three times in 10,000 spins, so the free spins do arrive without buying
- Measured well short: 93.51% against 98.12%, and 92.97% without the best natural round
- The fifty FUN 240 tickets returned 0.577x, 44 of them below price and four at zero
- Sixteen tickets never left the first wave and averaged 0.092x their price
- A 1,034-bet fall from the peak, and a 200-bet bankroll gone by spin 2966

FAQ
8 questions · answered from the logMarching Legions RTP on the demo: how far under 98.12%?
Short by 4.6 points: 93.51% across 10,000 spins at FUN 2.00, with a rough 95% range from 83.6% to 103.4% and the balance finishing 649 bets behind. Take away round 9248, the best natural free spins at 55.5 bets, and the other 9,999 spins sit at 92.97%.
Marching Stack frequency: how many per 10,000 spins?
In 666 of the 10,000 spins, one per 15 on average, and 107 of those came from the nudge feature pushing partial stacks together. The rounds paid 9.4 bets on average, 4 at the median, and 164 of them nothing at all; a stack on reel five walked five re-spins, one on reel one left after a single spin.
Does the starting reel of the stack change the payout?
A little: stacks that landed on reel five averaged 9.9 bets, reel two 7.1, reels three and four 6.6 and reel one 3.2. The number of stacks changed far more: 124 rounds saw a second stack join the march and averaged 21.7 bets, and the six rounds with three or more averaged 95.9.
Bought at FUN 240, what did the tickets return?
0.577x the price across 50 tickets, with 44 below price, four at zero and a median of 0.25x; the printed 97.13% would call for a return near 0.97x. Ticket 32 paid FUN 1,408 and ticket 43 FUN 1,338, and without ticket 32 the other 49 returned 0.469x.
Waves: why do they matter so much?
Each wave adds a stack and a fresh set of spins: the 16 tickets that stopped after the first wave averaged 0.092x their price, the 22 that reached a second wave 0.294x, the ten that reached a third 1.218x and the two that reached a fourth 4.358x. Three collect symbols on reel five are needed for the next wave, and one is given at the start.
How were the free spins reached without buying?
Through the shield meter, which fills at 330 collected stacks: it completed at rounds 3170, 6430 and 9248, roughly every 3,300 spins, and the three rounds paid FUN 6, 81 and 105 for their free spins, 6, 16 and 20 spins in one or two waves.
Biggest single spin of the run?
FUN 810, 405 bets, on the 24th spin of ticket 32, when four stacks marched across the reels in the fourth wave; the next spin added FUN 324. In ordinary play the record spin was the trigger of round 6962, FUN 270 from three stacks landing at once.
Does Marching Legions have a Wild?
No. The paytable holds the legionary, three medium symbols and three badges, and the legionary is the only symbol that pays for two on adjacent reels, FUN 2.00 at this stake; its full stacks are what the whole game is built on.
